Promotional poster for Midleton Toastmasters, a local branch of Toastmasters International. The group meet twice a month, helping people to “develop self-confidence through public speaking in a fun, supportive environment” … and what’s more self-confident and fun than a loudmouthed seagull, eh?

GRAPHIC NOVEL WORKSHOPS POSTER
Each year, for the past three years, Cork City Libraries have run graphic novel workshops for local teenagers, the results of which can be seen right here. Applications are now open for the fourth season of workshops (beginning January 2012), and this is the poster I created to promote them.
It casts potential applicants in the role of a super-powered graphic novel creator, surrounded by various villains intent on trampling the fun! You can take a closer look at these rogues in the previous post, or just click these words!
My poster for Cork Skeptics’ upcoming Skeptics In The Castle event, which takes place next Saturday 26th November, at Blackrock Castle Observatory.
The talk will feature Dr. Brian Hughes, of NUI Galway, who will explore The Science of Misunderstanding: How Our Brains are Programmed to Make Mistakes; and Síle Lane, who will discuss the Sense About Science campaign.
WEDDING INVITE
I recently designed wedding invitations for my sister. Above is the cover illustration, and below the invite print itself, and a detail from the interior spread. The invitations were simple A6-size greeting cards, with complementary envelopes.
The (unsuccessful) first attempt at these invites was posted here back in September.

My poster for Cork Skeptics’ upcoming Halloween spooktacular Skeptics In The Castle talk, which will take place on October 21st 2011, at Blackrock Castle Observatory.
The talk is all about ghosts, monsters and paranormal investigations, and will feature Hayley Stevens of the Righteous Indignation podcast; Ash Pryce, president of Edinburgh Skeptics; and Patrick Fisher, president of YYJ Skeptics.
My poster for Cork Skeptics’ upcoming Skeptics In The Castle talk, which will take place on September 16th 2011, at Blackrock Castle Observatory. The talk, by Mike Garde of Dialogue Ireland, is entitled Lie Of The Land: Cultism, Sects and the Religious Tapestry of Ireland.
Earlier this year, I directed a series of poster design workshops on behalf of Cork City Library. The aim of these workshops was to create a promotional poster for the library’s upcoming Children’s Book Festival, and the participants—a group of extremely talented local teenagers—produced a vast quantity of paper-craft artwork which will be featured in the final poster.
The standard of this artwork was so high, it was decided it should also be featured in the official brochure for the Book Festival. What you see above are a selection of spreads from that brochure.
